Maple Sugaring at the Hermitage in Ho-Ho-Kus

Visit the Hermitage on February 16 for an exciting hands-on event! The Hermitage Master Gardeners will be tapping about 15 trees for sap on the grounds of the National Historic Landmark. Families and friends are invited to learn how to tap maple trees and the historic importance of maple sugaring to the Lenape and early Dutch settlers in Northern New Jersey. Adults and children 12 and over will be able to tap the trees with the Master Gardeners. A small concessions stand featuring hot beverages and maple sugary snacks will be open. Guests will be sent home with complimentary equipment to tap trees in their own yards, along with instructions on boiling sap into syrup.

Saturday, February 16, 2019. Rain or heavy snow date is Sunday, February 17. Tickets are $25 per family and $15 per individual. Admission includes a guided tour of the National Historic Landmark. Tap times will be available at 1:00 p.m., 2:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m. To purchase tickets, click here. Space is limited.
