It was a great day in historic Paterson on Friday, August 16. A gala ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrated the reopening of Mr. G’s Diner. Over 150 friends, associates, neighbors, politicians, and members of the press turned out to mark the occasion.

During the festivities, master chef Cucuta Dionisio prepared a bowl of his famous spicy shrimp and grits.

What a Comeback

Everybody loves a comeback story. The vintage, modular, prefabricated diner was built by the Paramount Dining Car Company, which was based in Haledon, and opened in 1940 as Pickering’s Grill. The establishment underwent many ownership and name changes over the years.
