Montclair Food & Wine Festival kicks off 2017 with the Speakeasy, at the Wellmont Theater. Enjoy a true throwback event with libations from Montclair’s Amanti Vino, samples from 20 area restaurants, and music from Trent Armand Kendall + Brass Illusion. The event runs from 7:30 to 10 p.m., with VIP entry beginning at 6:30. Entry is $185 for VIP and $95 for general admission. The Wellmont Theather, 5 Seymour Street, Montclair. 

January 28: At Jersey City Wine Fest, guests will enjoy unlimited wine samples from all over the world, accompanied by food, live music, and interactive entertainment. Seminars begin at 6:15, presented by Mana Wine and Cool Vines

January 28: The Foodshed Alliance presents A Meal for Amiel, a seven-course gourmet benefit to raise funds for the Frankford Township School Greenhouse Project and the Foodshed Alliance. This event aligns 14 chefs with 14 aspiring chefs to create seven spectacular courses paired with specially selected wines to honor the memory of Amiel Wehrli. Cocktails at 5:30, dinner at 6:30. Tickets can be purchased online, and are $150 plus fees. Event takes place at Perona Farms. 350 Andover Sparta Road, Andover.

January 28 and 29: Come one, come all, to Asbury Park Beerfest! Two sessions will be held on January 28 (noon to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.) and one session on January 29 (12 p.m. to 4 p.m.) Advance admission is $37.50 +tax/fees, and at the door it’s $45 +tax/fees. Enjoy craft beers, ciders, retro beers, classic boardwalk food, and tasting glasses. Convention Hall, Asbury Park. 

Through January 29: The Lambertville New Hope Winter Festival is a great time to visit these cute little towns. This week-long festival consists of many free and tickets events; there’s something for everyone! Free events include ice sculptures, a soup-a-thon and other family-friendly events. January 29: Experience a cheese-themed culinary tour around the world from cheese expert Marie Fromage at Cheese Your Own Adventure: Cheese Tasting & Tiny Book Making! For $40, you can sample a platter of artisanal cheeses and create your very own tiny cheese book. Fun for the whole family! The class is 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at The Creativity Caravan, located at 28 South Fullerton Avenue in Montclair.

January 29: Raise a glass of apple cider at Terhune Orchards, in celebration of the annual British tradition of Wassailing the Apple TreesFrom 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. guests will partake in music making, toasts of hot cider, and placing gifts of cider-soaked bread in the tree branches. This event is free to the public. 330 Cold Soil Rd., Princeton.

Through February 3: It’s time for Hudson Restaurant Week! This year over 40 restaurants in Hoboken, Jersey City, Weehawken, and Bayonne are participating. Lunch and dinner prices vary. Participating restaurants are listed here.

February 4: Sample over 150 beers at the 7th Annual Great Beer Expo: MeadowlandsThis beer tasting event will showcase breweries from around the corner, across the country and around the globe. There will be two event sessions, one from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. and the next from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets are $45 +tax/fees each when purchased online in advance of the event. They will be $60 on event day at the door (cash only).Ticket price includes a souvenir tasting glass marked with a 2 oz. pour line and beer tasting. Designated driver tickets are available for $10, tickets can be purchased in advance for session one here and session two here. This event is for guests 21+ older. 355 Plaza Dr. Secaucus. 

February 11: Tickets are now on sale for Body & Soul’s “Underneath the Harlem Moon,” a night of wine, food, and music. Hosted by Jazz House Kids, the event will feature Claudio Roditi & the Bossa Trio, the Jazz House Kids Alumni Band, and Showtime at the Apollo winner Matthew Whitaker & Friends. The event takes place at Montclair’s Van Vleck House & Gardens. General admission for the main set, runs from 8 p.m. to11 p.m., is $150 All proceeds benefit the organization’s full mission. 21 Van Vleck Street, Montclair. 

February 18 and 19: Laurita Winery Hosts its annual Winterfest. This family-friendly event includes ice sculptures, classic winter activities, and a variety of themed food and beverages, plus food trucks! February 23: Ales for Whales promises to be an evening of good brews, food, and friends. The event will take place at Tuckahoe Brewing Company in Egg Harbor Township, from 6 to 9 p.m. The cost of tickets is $30 in advance and $35 at the door and the proceeds will go directly to the organization. Ales for Whales will highlight the brewery’s beer selection and food from local eateries, including Charlie’s Bar and Restaurant, Touch of Italy, McCullough’s Pub and Restaurant, Pete’s Subs and Deli, Juliano’s Pub and Grill, Carluccio’s Coal Fired Pizza, Carrabba’s Italian Grill, Chickie’s & Pete’s, Flat Stone Bar and Grille, Micchelli’s Pizza, Amici’s Homemade Specialties, and Sal’s Coal Fire Pizza. Guests will enjoy a fantastic selection of beer and wine and enjoy complimentary food while bidding on items up for auction. Space is limited, so early registration is highly recommended. February 26: It’s time to get saucy for the 2017 Hammonton Gravy vs Sauce Competition. The contest will feature two divisions (homemade and professional), each broken into four categories: red, white, meat, and other. First and second place for each will be selected by the event judges, and People’s Choice for each will be selected by the general public. Participation is $10 per entry. March 4: The Van Vleck House & Gardens presents a maple sugaring family program, a tour and demonstration of the maple sugaring process. Come between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m for the hour-long tour in the Mother’s Garden. Tickets are $7 per person and registration is required. March 5 to 10: Treat yourself at one or more or the 70+ restaurants participating in Atlantic City’s Restaurant Week this winter! These restaurants are offering three-course meals at fixed prices. Lunch will be $15.17 per person and dinner will be $35.17 per person. Prices do not include taxes, beverages, or gratuity. Find a restaurant to dine at here.

March 13: Taste of Montclair, hosted by the Rotary Club of Montclair to the Manor in West Orange. With more than 40 participating restaurants, the event runs from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and 100% of the ticket sales go to charity. Click here to purchase tickets. 111 Prospect Ave., West Orange.

March 23: Advance-sale tickets are available now through December 31 for  South Jersey’s premier food and beverage event, the 34th Atlantic Cape Community College Restaurant Gala. Individual tickets are available for $200 each. The 34th annual Atlantic Cape Community College Restaurant Gala takes place in the Avalon Ballroom of Harrah’s Waterfront Conference Center. The event showcases thousands of hors d’oeuvres prepared by students from the Academy of Culinary Arts. June 2 to 4: Kick off June with Michael Arnone’s 28th Annual Crawfish Fest! Get a taste of Louisiana and New Orleans style music, food, and camping festival during these three days on Sussex Country Fairgrounds in Augusta. The festival will feature 24 bands and dishes from 8 vendors at $10 or less. Other dining options include the Chef’s Table, a five-course meal for adults 14 and over at $500.
