May through July: It’s time for some Jersey Shore Cookbook launch parties and signings! Meet and greet author and Jersey Bites founder, Deborah Smith, at these upcoming events, and stay tuned for more!

Spring Wine Festival PosterMay 7: After more than 20 years, Unionville Vineyards Spring Wine & Music Festival is still going strong. This year’s festival runs from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., with music from John Beacher until 3 p.m. and The Brummy Brothers from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. This family-friendly event will feature food from Fork in the RoadNina’s WafflesAntimo’s Italian Kitchen, Off the Hook, wood-fired pizzas, seafood specialties, gourmet sandwiches and more. Admission includes wine tasting (and glass), tours, walks, hayrides, entertainment, and kids’ activities. Food truck items are additional, and outside food is permitted. Due to state law, outside alcohol is not permitted. Admission: $20 at the door, $10 for youth (13-20 years old) and designated drivers. Children 12 and under are free. 9 Rocktown Road, Ringoes.

May 7 to May 28: Pilsener Haus and its sister biergarten Asbury Festhalle are welcoming the Spring season with a month-long MaiFest celebration! Throughout the month, chefs at both locations will offer special Maifest Menus as well as specially imported seasonal Maibock beer. There will be a special Ramstein keg-tapping at the May 7th kickoff at Pilsener Haus with live music and traditional German food. Asbury Festhalle will also hold a StrasseFest (street festival) May 20-22, with stein-carrying, best lederhosen/dirndl contests and more live music. Pilsener Haus, 1422 Grand Stret, Hoboken. May 12: World-renowned Diana Kennedy will visit BEX Kitchen at 6 p.m. for a reservation-only signing of a revision of her 1984 cookbook, Nothing Fancy: Recipes and Recollections of Soul-Satisfying Food. May 13 and May 27: It’s never too late to put on your dancing shoes and bust a move at Laurita Winery! On these three Fridays, dancers of all ages gather for Country Line Dancing Night for just $5.35 per guest. May 14: Area food trucks and restaurants compete in the Meadowlands Battle for the Best Burger, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Click here for more details about entering and contact info! Competitors pay $100 to enter. This event is free to fans, who can come to the Backyard area of the Meadowlands Racetrack to enjoy the event and some samples. May 14 and 15: The 30th Annual New Jersey Seafood Festival will feature exciting new activities for the whole family including live music, wine and craft beer tent, contests, shop vendors and of course, amazing seafood. The event runs 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. pm Sunday. Admission is free! Silver Lake Park, 5th and Ocean Avenue, Belmar. 

May 16: Olive That! and More hosts certified health coach Caryn O’Sullivan of Appetites for Life as she shares helpful and valuable info about using olive oil in the kitchen! Learn to prep, plan and cook while understanding olive oil’s benefits, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Admission is $25 per person. Olive That! and More, 246 Bellevue Avenue, Montclair.

May 23: America’s SBDC New Jersey invites food entrepreneurs in Monmouth and Ocean county to attend Foodiepreneur: The Business of Food, a free event from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Brookdale Community College. Geared to people looking to grow or launch businesses such as a restaurant, food trucks, and food products, the event will give current and potential food service owners insight from experts in the field. May 28 and 29: The Garden State Wine Growers Association kicks off its festival season on Memorial Day weekend with the Wine & BBQ Experience from 12 to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. This will be GSWGA’s first festival of four throughout the summer and into the fall. Tickets are available in advance for $25 and $30 on site. Schooley Mountain Park, Long Valley. 

June 3 to 5: Michael Arnone’s 27th Annual Crawfish Fest, the largest Louisiana-style music, food and camping festival in the northeast, makes its way to the Sussex County Fairgrounds. With all dishes priced at $10 or lower, it will be easy for all guests to enjoy boiled crawfish, pork sausage, chicken Jambalaya, and more. Single, two-day or three-day ticket info can be found here. June 3 to 5: Take a stroll along the Navesink River during RiverFest in Red Bank. The free event runs from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Participating restaurants and food vendors include Richie Lou’s, Bistro at Red Bank, Fresh Fruit Cup, Gaetano’s, J&J Concessions, JR’s Red Bank, Keyport Fishery, Kupcake Kouture, Readies, Rita’s Water Ice, Soda City, The Bacon Jams, Wild Coyote, Tony’s Italian Sausage, and UFC Kettle Corn. June 11 and 12: Tickets for the Lakewood BlueClaws’ Jersey Shore Wine Festival are on sale now. Ticket info can be found here. This annual event features more than 100 samplings from wineries across the state as well as live entertainment and food vendors. The cost to attend is $20 in advance or $25 at the gate (21 and over), with designated drivers and children free. FirstEnergy Park, 2 Stadium Way, Lakewood. 

June 17: This is about to be your favorite visit to the zoo since grade school. The Turtle Back Zoo celebrates its 53rd birthday with the fourth annual Brew at the Zoo, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event will feature live entertainment, and a wide range of brewers and craft beer vendors. Tickets are $60 for general admission and $15.50 for designated drivers. The impressive lineup of food trucks includes el Lechon de Negron as well as Sum Pig, Five Sisters, and Shore Shake (pictured, right). Stop by from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday for some tasty food and fun! 63rd and Landis Ave, Sea Isle City.

June 25 and 26: Get your sweet tooth ready for the Wine and Chocolate Festival at Monmouth Park! Take your time enjoying samples from a dozen wineries and the chocolate lounge (really!) while listening live music. $10 for wine sampling, $7 for chocolate sampling, or $15 for both. The festival runs 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oceanport Avenue, Oceanport.
