January 7: David Wood, a noted brewer, hosts “Homebrewing 101” at the Englewood Public Library. He will discuss the necessary equipment to get into homebrewing, give an overview of beer making and describe the ingredients process. The event starts at 7:15 and is open to the public. January 10: Slow Food Central Jersey hosts one of only five winter farmer’s markets, featuring the best of baked goods, mushrooms, cheese, wines, sauces and more. The event also includes live music. Admission is a suggested donation of $3. D&R Greenway Land Trust, Johnson Education Center, 1 Preservation Place, Princeton, 609-933-4452.

January 23: Help foster therapeutic programs while munching on cheese. The Salt Creek Grille hosts a Wine and Cheese Tasting Event from 7 to 10:30 p.m. There will also be live music and a raffle. Tickets are $125 and benefit Special People United to Ride (SPUR), a therapeutic horse riding program for people with disabilities. Salt Creek Grille, 4 Bingham Avenue, Rumson, 732-933-9272.

January 26 to February 2: Bring together the excitement of the Superbowl and the entertainment of great food deals at Montclair’s Restaurant Week. Already 14 different restaurants have signed up to offer specials throughout the week and have donated to the local Rotary Club.
